Is CLOUD Game Changer or shifting burden from Private to Public?

I wonder after experiencing all the different terms and concepts SaaS, PaaS, IaaS. I truly not convince except for OPEX savings what else you gain from moving into cloud. I believe we blatantly ignoring the fact we are shifting problem/burden from private to public (Cloud) especially when we talk about dedicated environment. Yes you are harnessing idle CPU going Green in a multi-tenant mode, however if every enterprise moves towards cloud you may need to increase the processing power thus idle CPU would be virtual reality. When Cloud vendors realize they try to find avenues to be profitable and you may very well end by baring same cost as private/ON premise.

IT service manpower would be cut down for enterprise however seemingly increase in Boutique shops developing cloud based solutions or ISV's provide cloud based service, support. There would be a constant equilibrium maintained on IT Manpower demand.

Infrastructure Rationalization or Transformation into CLOUD does not reduce in IT spending from a Global economy perspective.

Net-Net we IT folks will continue to survive and grow in numbers.

Just a Thought!

Saas + Cloud+ Multitenant

25% of all new business software is expected to be delivered as a service by 2011?* Between now and then, the market for cloud-based software services will grow to $20 billion.**

- Gartner

Being excited to be part this new Paradigm shift...I would luv to thro my 2 cents...on my vision of Ideal combination I believe all 3 Musketeers SaaS, Cloud and Mutli-tenant compliments very well each other. If all used in conjunctions that could yield the best value for money for any vendors Only Google's & SalesForce of the world have rightly used this combination

There are many SaaS provide in order to reach GO-To Market they host application either in a single tenant on a IaaS which is as good as hosting a On premise application with limited advantage..

Yes developing a strong multi-tenant platform is time consuming and needs lot od dedication and planning...But worth spending the time..

Even adds value when added to Cloud Computing where hardware can be reused effectively.

Certainly more competition and experience will improvise these SaaS vendors to come out with best. And I am certainly happy to be part of it...
